Giving Up

If you love something, set it free …

I’m not saying I’m quitting, but I’m giving up on trying to stay in contact with someone who is/was one of my closest, best friends.

I haven’t seen her since May. We’ve talked about meeting for coffee. I told her whenever worked for her worked for me. She was suppose to text and let me know. I haven’t heard anything since. She broke up with her boyfriend, quit Facebook, and still hasn’t bothered to tell me what’s up.

Sure, I could text her first, but why bother when in the past they’ve led to nothing? I’m tired of making an effort and getting nothing in return. I’m guessing she knows I’ve moved since I ran into her brother in-law and we discovered that we live in the same townhouse complex. I could invite her over, but I don’t really want to.

I’m just tired on hanging onto a friendship that requires delicate work, and normally I’m not that kind of person, but I just can’t keep worrying about whether or not she’s going to get a hold of me.

The ball is in her court. When/if she wants to see me, she can call me. I hate that I’ve come to this, but I have more important things to worry about.

Babies, Zombies and Cupcakes

This past weekend, I had Saturday off and it was devine! I had booked if off because my amazing bestie B was going to be in town. After a delicious breakfast of McDonald’s with Kyle (don’t judge us!), B came and picked me up. Kyle also got to meet my (our?) cutey pa-tooty niece Lilly and it was adorable! He looks quite comfortable with babies, but don’t tell him that! ;)

B, her fiancĂ© and I headed out to the mall to shop for some new fall clothes for Lilly at Please Mum and I found a cute little long-sleeved onesie for her, so I bought it. The lady at the check-out was certain that I’ve shopped there before, but I most definitely haven’t! Anyway, after Lilly clothes shopped, we checked out the bookstore across the way and I found this:

I almost, almoooost, bought it, but figured I’d never actually have time to cross-stitch my heart out any time soon.

Oh, and I also stumbled across a yummy looking cookbook that made me think of Angela:

There were also about three other cookbooks right beside this one based just on cupcakes! In the end, I kind of went with the opposite route and bought Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown. I’m not going to lie, I’m a little afraid of it, but I’m looking forward to it! My plan is to start once we move because our living room is nice and spacey. (And carpeted, so I don’t have to buy a yoga mat) I figured I’d try yoga at home before I go and try out a class, because I’m rather uncoordinated. That way, I won’t be completely embarrassed if I do go to a class!

We also went and looked at shoes for fun, where I stumbled upon pint-sized gladiator sandals:

These, I think, are unacceptable. Baby shoes are suppose to be cute, not fashionable! Right? Or at least not ridiculous. Oy.

Kyle and I also went and bought a coffee and end table today, as well as a bunch of kitchen utensils and glasses. We’re so excited to move at the end of the week!

I’ll leave you with a photo of my little Lilly, because she’s adorable!

Happy Monday! How was your weekend?
And sorry for the crappy camera-phone pictures!

Weekend Update – Camping

I had the most amazing weekend (other than having to work on Sunday)! Camping was definitely what I needed to forget about work. Other than the tent being impossible to set up, all was fabulous! Here’s a few photos to sum everything up:

I sliced my hand open before we even left the house.

The dogs had a lovely swim and stunk like lake afterwards.

Saw this little guy and took a picture. Is it a moth or butterfly? I can't never remember the difference.

C & me, just chilling out

I heard the bird behind me and thought it was a giant bumblebee. Turns out it wasn't!

How was YOUR weekend?
