My view post-savasana last week

Reading // Nothing, sadly. I’m impatiently awaiting the release date for Emily Giffin’s new book, The One and Only, which drops on May 20. The last book I read was The Storyteller and it was a little heavy, emotional-wise, so I’m looking forward to Giffin’s new one. (She by-far my favourite author!)

Watching // A lot of The Voice, Justified, and Grey’s Anatomy, as well as all my other favourite TV shows. I’ve also been watching old episodes of The Walking Dead on Netflix, but I’ve been thinking about watching something new, like maybe Mad Men.

Listening // To a lot of covers, or songs that I’d grown fond of because of covers. I downloaded Christina Grimmie’s version Hold On, We’re Going Home (Go Team Adam!), and Pumping Blood after I heard it on Glee.

Loving // The pedicure I got with my mom on the weekend. We went to this little hole-in-the-wall looking place but they did such a fantastic job! Plus, they have massage chairs for you to sit in while you get your pedi done. So lovely! I also bought a bottle of China Glaze polish in Four-Leaf Clover. I had my toes painted that colour before I had Isla and am drawn to it every time I go for a pedi, but like to try something different. Now I can just polish my nails that colour at home in between.

I’m also loving that the weather is slowly (and I mean slowly – it snowed on the weekend so …) getting nice because that means yoga outside! Last week we practised outside underneath the trees and it was so lovely, even though my allergies were starting to act up.

Needing // To mentally focus myself on not stressing out about certain things in life. I’ve been trying not to worry about some stuff that I really don’t have any control over, and I really don’t think it’s helping things at all.

Anticipating // My birthday tomorrow, and then my trip to Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast on the weekend with my mom and Isla!

March10

Time // 12:27 p.m.

Place // In her high chair. It’s lunch time!

Eating // Right now it’s “gourmet” Kraft Dinner. I’ve chopped up a fresh tomato and tossed it in for extra flavour. Her favourite foods right now are blueberries, goldfish, and lasagne.

Drinking // She absolutely loves smoothies but doesn’t have them very often. It’s milk 95% of the time!

Watching // Sesame Street is her absolute favourite. She will bring me the remotes for the TV and ask, “Elmo?” And when I ask her if she wants to watch, she’ll happily yell, “ELMO!” and run to the couch. It’s adorable.

Reading // Our favourite is “Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?” Isla loves reading along and making the sounds Mr. Brown can do. (“Pop pop pop” is her favourite and is what she says when she wants to read that book.)

Learning // Animal sounds. Her favourite is to meow like a cat, but she’s getting pretty good at recognizing an animal and then making the noise it makes. We’re slowly working on our counting too. I’m still at a loss on how to teach her to properly go down the stairs though; she just wants to walk down them like we do, but needs a handrail to hold onto. (Ours isn’t low enough for her to grab.) We’ll get there.

Wanting // Everything within her reach on the countertops, which means we really have to make sure everything is pushed back from the edge of the counter at least 3″ if we don’t want Isla to touch it. She has already swiped scissors, squished raw meat, and grabbed my cellphone off the counter. Oops. Luckily, I catch her quickly enough so no damage was caused.

Enjoying // The recent sunny weather. Yesterday we took the wagon she got for Christmas out for its maiden voyage around the neighbourhood and she had a blast. She really loved going up and down the curbs and laughed over every bump.

Needing // Extra cuddles the past few days. She’s been running a fever on and off and I think her eye teeth that are coming in are to blame. Tylenol helps, but I just feel bad for her.

Anticipating // Summer! We can’t wait to play out in the sun this year.

Dec21(12)

Playing in the snow at Gamma’s house!

Time // 8:32 a.m.

Place // On the couch, watching her cartoons

Eating // Scrambled eggs and raspberries were for breakfast today, one of her favourites! She also loves pasta (any kind) and cabbage rolls.

Drinking // Milk! Although she really loves smoothies too and goes crazy when she sees me drinking Booster Juice.

Watching // The Cat in the Hat, Pet + Cat, Sesame Street. Really, she loves PBS Kids in the morning.

Reading // Were the Wild Things Are, The Places You’ll Go, The Gruffalo are her favourites right now. She also loves “lift the flap” books, if she can resist ripping the flaps off.

Wanting // Everything we’re eating. It’s come to a point where we can’t eat things she shouldn’t have, like cookies or chips, in front of her or else she’ll do this baby bird impression and cry if she doesn’t get any too.

Enjoying // The snow. We had a huge dump of snow a couple days ago and Isla loved being pulled along in her sled and eating the snow! She also loves playing in her little kitchen and “shopping” with her little grocery cart.

Needing // Lots of cuddles and comfort since she’s cutting a bunch of molars right now. Last week she had a low fever for about 3 days, but by Friday she was feeling better and had a brand-new molar to show off. Thank goodness for Tylenol.

Anticipating // Christmas, of course!
