Size of baby: About the size of a garden eggplant, according to the Ovia pregnancy app.
Feeling: I’ve been feeling kind of gross lately (i.e., gassy), and I’m just going to blame it on Baby Girl growing and shoving my insides around to accommodate herself. I’ve also been fighting a bit of a cold that I caught from Isla, so really, I’ve been a hot mess.
Craving: Orange juice and hummus. I satisfied the OJ craving with some clementines, and bought hummus at the store the other day and have been eating it with anything that’s dippable as a snack.
Other: We’re also pretty certain on the baby’s name! Kyle and I are still trying to decide on a middle name, but the first name is more or less a sure thing :) Like with Isla, we’re not telling anyone what the name is until she’s born, but you can have fun guessing if you want! I also start prenatal yoga tomorrow, so I’m really looking forward to that!
Size of baby: Baby is now the size of a cob of corn, according to my lovely pregnancy app. Really, I’m not sure where they get these measurements from, because in my world of mammoth produce, corn ears can get pretty big. Anyway, baby is a-growin’!
Feeling: Slightly more energetic, and I think it has a lot to do with the change in weather. While it poured rain last Friday night, we’ve been lucky to have mostly sunny days since then. I’m really enjoying the Vitamin D, to say the least! I won’t go so far to say that spring is on its way, but it certainly is nice to see the sun out.
Craving: Spaghetti. I make it quite often but it’s been a couple weeks and I’ve had a hankering. I’m thinking that’s what’s on the menu for dinner tonight ;)
Other: Of course, I can’t write this post and not mention my ultrasound appointment last week! Everything went great, despite me trying to sneak in a bathroom break because the clinic was running late, only to be called upon 2 minutes later. Luckily they take photos with an empty bladder as well, so the tech did those ones while she waited for my bladder to fill up. And while Kyle had to work, my mom and Isla got to come into the room and see the baby on the screen. Isla thought it was pretty amazing – her eyes were HUGE while she watched the screen and said “how cute” the baby was. My mom never had an ultrasound when she was pregnant with me or my brother, so she thought it was pretty amazing as well.
Oh, and we DID find out if Baby #2 is a boy or girl! I was able to get the results from my doctor’s office on Thursday, so I hightailed it to the baker before I got too tempted to open the envelope! I picked up the cupcakes for the gender reveal party Friday after work, and our family came over for dinner and to help us find out!
We gave Isla the honours of eating the first cupcake, and I got it on video. So, if you want to know if it’s a boy or girl, you’ll just have to watch and see! (Unless, of course, you have me on Facebook or Instagram.)
Isla really put on the suspense for us! You’d think a 2.5-year old would be more into destroying a cupcake, but she treated it like a delicate little flower, haha.
While we were both convinced it was a boy, we couldn’t be happier that we’re having another girl! Kyle’s going to have his hands full in the future, that’s for sure ;)
Size of baby: Baby #2 is about the size of a Belgian endive, according to the Ovia Pregnancy app. According to the Babycenter app, it’s about 13oz and 27cm long. Either way, baby is a growin’!
Feeling: Lousy because of all the hip pain I’ve been having. As soon as I’m done my stint at the university and done with sitting in office chairs I’m going to be high-tailing it to my chiropractor to get everything straightened out. Maybe I’ll even sneak in an RMT appointment.
Craving: Sushi! It’s be a reoccurring craving and this time I blame it on the last episode of Masterchef Jr. I watched. The kids were making homemade California Roll & tempura shrimp and it made it want sushi SO bad. I’m not even joking.
Other: My anatomy/gender determination ultrasound scan is next Tuesday! Kyle and I have decided to take the “magical” envelope with the gender written in it to a baker and have cupcakes made with blue or pink icing inside. Then on Friday we’ll have a little reveal get-together with family! It’s going to kill me having to wait three more days after my ultrasound, but it will be fun!
Until then, here’s a side-by-side shot of me at 20 weeks with Isla and at 20 weeks with #2. I originally had taken a photo wearing the same shirt, but it stretched out a LOT since I wore it for all my bump photos with Isla, lol.
