Day 10

Something I’m Afraid Of

There’s lots of things to be afraid of: Death, losing a loved one, falling terribly ill, the end of the world. We all have those fears, or at least it’s safe to say that the majority of us do.

Then there’s the little things. Some people are afraid of snakes, some people are afraid of spiders. These are the little irrational fears that we develop over whatever reason. I don’t have too many irrational fears, but there are a couple that I’ll mention:

  • Spiders. I hate them with a bloody passion. My preferred method of killing them is with the bottom of my shoe or with something with a long handle. Generally, I’ll kill them with anything I think that won’t let them crawl on me.
  • Semi trucks. There’s something about their size that scares the crap out of me. They have huge blind spots, they often drive like maniacs and they can kill you in an instant. Morbid, I know, but I just don’t like driving past them on the highway. It takes all my might just to pass them without freaking out. Now, I know not all truck drivers drive poorly, but I’ve seen enough to know that there’s a lot of bad ones.
  • Being alone. I like my quiet alone time, but the thought of actually being ALONE alone doesn’t sit well with me. I’m just glad I have an awesome family and a few great friends I can depend on.

So really, there’s not much I’m too afraid of. Heights don’t bother me, nor do snakes, the open sea or birds.

What are you afraid of?

Tomorrow: Favourite TV shows.

Ten on Tuesday

1. Who makes your Thanksgiving dinner?

This may sound gluttonous, but I usually have two or three Thanksgiving dinners. My Mom usually makes one and Kyle’s Mom will make one as well, usually a few days apart. My Dad sometimes makes one too, but usually he saves all his turkey cooking strength for Christmas dinner. The best thing about having three dinners? They all make different kinds of stuffing! Nom.

2. What is your favourite recipe the includes pumpkin? (bonus points for including the recipe)

Pumpkin pie, which I’ve yet to have this holiday season!

3. What are 5 things you want for Christmas?

A wireless network connector for my XBox, a DSL camera, books … I really don’t want much.

4. Does your family draw names or do you buy for everyone?

On my side of the family we buy for everyone, but on Kyle’s side, we draw names.

5. How do you feel about motorcycles?

They scare me. I’ve never really ridden on one, and the one time I tried to drive a dirt bike, I nearly crashed. I’m a little scarred I suppose.

6. What’s your favourite thing to do on a rainy Saturday?

Watch movies or read a book.

7. What is the coolest thing to do in your city?

There is ALWAYS something to do, at least touristy-wise. Ski hills, hiking trails, outdoor activities, special events … there always seems to be something going on.

8. Do you paint your fingernails?

No, but I paint my toenails.

9. Who is your favourite actor over the age of 50?

Morgan Freeman

10. Do you have a high school letter jacket?

No, my high school definitely didn’t have letter jackets.

Day 9

A picture of your friends

This one is actually a little hard for me, partly because I don’t have a lot of recent group photos of me and my friends. Regardless, here’s what I rounded up!

C and I at her birthday bash this past summer, before complete intoxication!

B and I, back in February before little Miss Lilly came into the world!

Melissa and I out at the country bar, right before Billy Talent randomly waltzed into the place and sat 10 feet away from us. Weird? I think so!

It’s funny – I updated this post the night before it posted because it seems as though that the girl who I thought was one of my closest friends no longer wishes to talk to me. C’est le vie I suppose. I just switched the pictures around.

Tomorrow: Something you’re afraid of.
