Seven Quick Takes

~1~

For the first time in quite a while, I’ve posted every day this week. Okay, minus the weekend, but those don’t count. Days off are days off!

~2~

My mom and I are going to the annual Bridal Fair in town this weekend. I’m excited for it! I’m hoping to be able to get some ideas for decorations, as well as scooping up coupons for cakes (the place I want to get mine from will be there!), spa treatments and flowers. Woo!

~3~

B will be in town on Monday and we’re going to go bridesmaid dress shopping. I’m really hoping her, C, and I will be able to find something that works for everyone’s figure and bank account. I just wish the weather wasn’t so ridiculous so that Mel could come too. (Be prepared for photo messages, woman!) Silly Vancouver drivers and their lack of winter tires ;)

There’s a gutter drain right outside my bedroom window and with all the warm weather we’ve been having, the snow has been melting like crazy. As a result of the meltiness, the drain makes this horrible dripping noise all. night. long. It’s like Chinese water torture to my ears. I can’t stand repetitive noises like that, and it makes it damn-near impossible for me to fall asleep. I’ve been taking doses of sleeping pills to help me sleep. Ah, groggy goodness.

~5~

My neighbours now have some sort of lapdog in their possession. (It looks like a Chihuahua crossed with a Papillon or something like that) As a result, all Daphne wants to do it go outside and stare at the fence. Awesome. I can’t wait for it to be summer so those kids go away. Their parents bought the place so the kids have a place to stay during university. Faaaantastic. (Note to self: Stop sounding like a crazy old lady)

~6~

We’re getting a new vehicle! Well, Kyle is. He’s been wanted to buy a new truck for the longest time and there’s a great deal on new Rangers right now, so he ordered one on Wednesday! It takes 8 to 12 weeks to arrive, so we’re doing the anticipation dance! I’m so glad he went for it; he works so hard all the time and deserves to spoil himself. The hilarious thing? The colour of the truck is the same as one of our wedding colours, lol. (Guess which vehicle we’ll be arriving in now?!)

~7~

I spent nearly $60 at Chapters bookstore yesterday! I bought Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, Water for Elephants, and Thin, Rich, Pretty. I can’t decide which one to start first! Suggestions?

Happy Friday everyone! Was this the longest week ever for you too?
What are your weekend plans?

Vlog: Accents

I’ve seen this Dialect/Accent meme floating around the blog world, first on my Little’s page and then again on Emily Jane’s blog, and I figured, ah what the hell, why not?!

To participate, all you have to do is make a video of yourself saying the following words:

Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught

And then answering these questions:

  • What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
  • What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
  • What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
  • What do you call gym shoes?
  • What do you say to address a group of people?
  • What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
  • What do you call your grandparents?
  • What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
  • What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
  • What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

I apologize for my awkwardness, and my crazy wintery flyaway hair! Enjoy :)

WTW: Is This Real?

There have been several moments from when Kyle popped the question to now where I have had to ask myself: Is this actually happening? Are we seriously getting married in a few months?

In so many ways it seems so surreal. Some days I forget that we’re getting married, and then I’ll look at my left hand and see my ring, or I’ll start to get all weepy while watching wedding shows on Slice or TLC, and remember, “Holy man, I’m getting married. This is going to be real! No more just pretending! OMG MY NAME IS GOING TO BE DIFFERENT!”

It’s still weird picturing myself in my big, beautiful dress (which I’m still impatiently waiting for its arrival), walking down the aisle, and saying “I Do” to the most amazing man in the world. I have to pinch myself and remind myself that it isn’t a dream.

So very slowly is everything coming together. This past weekend we picked out the tuxes and wedding bands; just another assurance that yes, this is real, especially buying the bands.

Sorry for turning WTW into some sort of sappy ridiculousness. I’m still kind of in shock that Kyle and I are finally getting married.

And just an FYI: In no way is this a Cold Feet post, lol!

So married ladies, or those about to be married, did you have similar feelings?
