29 Weeks

How far along? 29 Weeks!

How big is baby? She’s about 15″ long from head to toe and weighs approximately 2.5lbs, according to BabyCentre.ca.

Total weight gain/loss: I haven’t weighed myself since my last doctor’s appointment a couple weeks ago, but I’m pretty sure I’ve gained a couple pounds since then. I have my next appointment tomorrow, so we’ll see!

Maternity Clothes? My mom, aunt and I went to Kelowna on the weekend to do a little shopping, so I stopped in the maternity-wear store there to pick up some things. It’s ridiculous how much cheaper their stuff is compared to the stuff in Kamloops! Not fair :( Anyway, I got some khaki-coloured capris, a couple shirts, and a really cute dress for a wedding we’re going to next month.

Stretch marks? None that I can tell. It looks like I’m getting that weird vertical one that runs down from your belly button, but I’m not 100% sure. I think it’s just hair. (Pregnancy has made me hairy!

Sleep: I’ve been waking up recently in the middle of the night with HORRIBLE heartburn. It’s awful, so I’ve been drinking liquid Gaviscon like it’s water. Ugh.

Movement: More and more every day it seems, and that’s probably because Baby is running out of room. She’s found my kidneys I think, which isn’t particularly comfortable. Usually if I just rub where she is she’ll move.

Food cravings: I’ve really been wanting a paralyzer (which is an alcoholic beverage), so I obviously can’t cave to that craving. The closest thing I’ve had to that is a root beer float. OMG SO GOOD!

What I miss: Now that the weather is starting to get nicer, I miss sipping boozy drinks on the patio. *sigh* Oh well …

What I am looking forward to: Crib shopping! I swear it’s going to happen in the next couple weeks. We should be done painting within the next week. Maybe.

Milestones: Not that I can think of … last week was a boring week!

Listy Friday

  • I am so glad that it’s a long weekend finally, even though I have to work Monday. I’m just exhausted from everything that’s happened in the past week; I really need a breather.
  • My Grandpa – bless his heart – is coming over today to finish painting the baby’s room. That man is unstoppable. I really don’t blame him from wanting to do it though. He never leaves a job unfinished and it will help him get out of the house (well, my mom’s house) and avoid people’s phone calls. I don’t think he’s had much time to himself since my Grandma passed on Sunday, and I’m glad to have him over visiting regardless.
  • Being the writer in my family, I had the honour of writing my Grandma’s obituary, at my Grandpa’s request. I think that was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write, but it’s by far the piece I’m most proud of. I know my Grandma would approve – she loved my work no matter what boring topic I was writing about.
  • I made myself a delicious root beer float last night. You should be jealous of how good it was:

  • Which reminds me: Android FINALLY has the Instagram app available to download, but I’m still trying to figure out how to use it. Like – how on earth do I see my photos all in one spot other than on my phone? I NEED TO KNOW THIS PEOPLE!
  • My mom, aunt, and I are heading to Kelowna tomorrow for some shopping. I think it will be a well deserved and needed “girls day” for us. My aunt is actually in Kamloops from Phoenix, AZ (She flew up Monday to be with my Grandpa). I haven’t seen her in about three years, so it’s been good catching up, even though the circumstances aren’t ideal.
  • On Sunday Kyle’s BFF will be visiting. Shenanigans will probably ensue.
  • Come to think about it, I don’t get too much of a break this weekend after all …
  • I’m pretty sure I’m getting bigger and bigger (baby-wise) every day. It’s amazing how much she’s moving and thrashing about inside me! Sometimes it’s startling, and it still freaks Kyle out everytime she kicks/punches him.
  • I seriously need some new books to read. Suggestions?

What are your Easter weekend plans?

Ten on Tuesday

First, I’d just like to thank everyone for their kind words yesterday in regards to my Grandma. It really means a lot :)

1. How do you feel about April Fool’s Day?
I’m generally not a fan of being pranked, and I’m so bad at keeping a straight face that I rarely pull them either. When I was little I put saran wrap over the toilet bowl and my dad really didn’t appreciate that. That was the end of my trickery.

2. Do you like birds?
Depends on the bird. Penguins are awesome, magpies are not. Crows also concern me. I love the sound of seagulls but don’t trust them when they fly over my head.

3. How often do you wear your hair in a ponytail?
Once or twice a week, depending on how lazy I’m feeling or if I’m running late.

4. Do you believe in love at first sight?
I really don’t know. Part of my wants to, but I think a lot of people confuse love with lust at the first sight.

5. What is your favourite appetizer?
I love spinach, crab and artichoke dip, as well as crab cakes. (Who doesn’t like a good crab cake?!) Stuffed mushrooms are amazing too – especially with crab meat. I guess I should just say that I love any appy with crab in it! Oooh, and fried cheese is amazing too, specifically fried provolone picante.

6. What is your favorite brand of heels?
I could say Louboutins to be ridiculous, but I don’t own a pair and could never afford to. I’ll go with Aldo – sexy yet still affordable!

7. Are you a picky eater?
Not really, no. There aren’t too many foods or meals I won’t eat.

8. Is there a TV show you like that nobody ever talks about?
I’m starting to like Justified, which I believe originally aired on HBO but is now just starting to appear on Showcase. Timothy Olyphant is wonderful in many, many ways.

9. Do you prefer hot tea or cold tea?
Hot tea, unless it’s sweetened iced tea.

10. Gayle or Peeta? (If you don’t know how to answer, read The Hunger Games.)
Neither?? (I haven’t read the Hunger Games series and don’t plan to. Sorry kids!)
