TGIF v.36

A high of the week was getting my mantle rearranged and looking spiffy with the addition of Norah’s portrait! I got an inexpensive picture frame for Norah’s picture and rearranged some stuff, and I’m really happy with how it’s looking these days!

A low of the week was a total “mom fail” moment when I realized that one the nail on Norah’s left big toe was off in colour. I looked closer and noticed that it was kind of peeling, so I picked at it with my fingernail only to lift away the nail and see a new one underneath! A while ago she dropped a 2kg weight on her toe and it bruised but I didn’t think much else about it. I guess it damaged her nail bed enough to kill the old nail. Baaaad Mommy :(

An internet find I loved was this post on Life & Love by my amazing blog friend Holly, I related so much to it and it had me in tears by the end.

The best money I spent was on a $15 Slip & Slide for Isla to play on in the yard. She loves it, even though she hasn’t quite got the “slide” part of it. (And I’m not going to lie, while I paid for it the next day, I had fun too!)

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was Norah taking a bottle! I was so stressed that it was going to be a huge fight to get her to take one and get her weaned from nursing, but it’s turning out to be going better than expected. On Monday she saw me pumping and started whining so I gave her the bottle and she tried drinking out of it. So, on Tuesday I gave her a bottle instead of nursing before her nap and while she woke up and started crying when I put her in her crib, it only lasted about 10 minutes before she was out cold. Yay! We’re still nursing for bedtime, but once I go by larger bottles I think we’ll be well on our way to no nursing at all.

The song that has been stuck in my head is “One Dance” by Drake.

My meals of the week were:

Monday – Marinated Greek Chicken, Greek salad, and mashed potatoes.
Tuesday – Sausages with homemade BBQ sauce, green beans & carrots, and rice.
Wednesday – Pork tenderloin with potatoes and carrots.
Thursday – Hamburgers
Friday – Turkey at my mom’s!

My plans for the weekend are visiting with my brother, checking out the farmers’ market, and enjoying the sunny weather (providing the forecast doesn’t change).

Tell me, what’s going on in your life?

TGIF v.35

A high of the week was finally having summer weather! We’ve had some pretty craptastic weather all month, but it’s finally starting to turn around. *knocks on wood*

A low of the week was having our offer on the house we had our hearts set on bumped, so now we have to decide if we want to keep looking or not. Ugh.

An internet find I loved was the trailer for the new episodes of Gilmore Girls. If you haven’t watched it yet and aren’t excited, we cannot be friends anymore. Better go watch it now.

The best money I spent was on Zulily! I bought Kyle and Isla shirts and I’m super excited for them to arrive.

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was being able to just let them be little. Norah just loves being with her big sister and Isla loves playing with her. (Even though she’s already playing the blame game.) It’s great to watch them interact with one another.

The song that has been stuck in my head is “Unsteady” by X Ambassadors.

My meals of the week were:

Monday: Meatballs with rice & canned green beans. (Lazy/easy dinner!)
Tuesday: BBQ’d chicken with Greek salad & nugget potatoes
Wednesday: BBQ’d sausages with fresh green beans, and pasta with  homemade tomato sauce
Thursday: Burgers!

My plans for the weekend are appointments on Friday, taking Isla to The Magical Journey on Saturday, and going to the lake on Sunday!

TGIF v.34

A high of the week was definitely doing the Blackwell Dairy Run on Sunday!

Isla can’t wait to run in another race, lol.

A low of the week was my washing machine dying mid-wash on Monday. With a tub FULL of water and soaking wet clothes. Perfect! The culprit? A stinkin’ baby sock. Even after Kyle removed the sock, it still wouldn’t work.

An internet find I loved was this post by Sarah Kallies. It was shared on Facebook by one of my momma friends and I couldn’t agree more with it. There is so much “information” out there today on what’s best for your child and everything is contradictory. My method? Do what works best for YOU. As long as you’re not putting your kid in obvious danger (“Here you go, Norah, play with this carving knife while Mommy has a nap!”), you’re doing just fine.

The best money I spent was $13 on some shorts for Isla. Yay, Costco!

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was watching them have some fun at the park on Wednesday. We fed the ducks and geese, met a muskrat, and played on the playground for a bit. After last week’s crumby weather, it was nice to spend some time outside, regardless of my stupid allergies.

The song that has been stuck in my head is “Victorious” by Panic! At the Disco. (Also, am I the only one who thinks they sound a lot like Fall Out Boy?)

My meals of the week were:

Monday: Jambalaya
Tuesday: Meatloaf
Wednesday: Beef stroganoff
Thursday: Cedar planked salmon with this garlic-dijon glaze/sauce.

My plans for the weekend are buying a new washing machine, watching Isla perform in her dance recital, celebrating Kyle and I’s wedding anniversary, and the usual slo-pitch games on Sunday! Whew!

How was your week?
