TGIF v.48

A high of the week was Norah actually enjoying swimming lessons on Tuesday! While she likes being in the water, she wasn’t interested in actually listening during her lessons. I’ve discovered that the less time we have to wait in the pool before lessons start, the less restless she gets during lessons and she’s more likely to participate.

A low of the week was finding out I got a less than stellar mark on a final exam. I’ll be honest and say that I wasn’t expecting to pass with flying colours, but it was a good reality check. Also, being allowed to do open book tests during a course but not being allowed to have one for the final is BRUTAL. Lesson learned? Always study as if you were going to do a closed book, regardless!

An internet find I loved was this guide by Reviews.com on how to choose the right office chair for you. I may not work in an office setting at the moment, but one day I hope to get back to work and I know from experience how the wrong chair can make a day drag on. Luckily, the fine folks at Reviews.com have put the top-selling office chairs to the test and have chosen the top 3 based on ergonomics and what was most comfortable. Definitely check out their guide if you’re ever in the market for a great chair.

The best money I spent was on a Red Flag Thursday deal on a SodaStream for Kyle and I. We’ve been wanting to get one for a while, so we figured to snag one while it was on sale. (Also, how did sale “days” like Black Friday get all these ridiculously-named bonus days? Cyber Monday? Small Business Tuesday? Pffffft.)

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was Norah just being, well. Norah:

A song that has been stuck in my head is a little ditty called “Nowhere to be Found” by a (BC) local artist named Kazz. Fun fact: The dude singing backup is a friend of mine from ball, so definitely give it a listen!

My meals of the week were fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans, mild Italian sausages with carrots and pasta, pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and baked zucchini, spaghetti, roast beef, and Actifry chicken wings.

My plans for the weekend are watching the Santa Clause parade Saturday morning, Christmas shopping Sunday, and relaxing on Sunday!

Have you started Christmas shopping?

Full disclosure: This post features promotional content but as always, all thoughts are my own.

A high of the week was getting they vinyl decking installed on our new deck! Now we just have to get the railings up and it will pretty much be complete! (As complete as we need it to be to be able to enjoy it.) Not going to lie though, it’s pretty nice having an unobstructed view of the hill behind our house. Too bad glass panelling is expensive! (And a pain in the ass to keep clean.)

And a bonus shout-out to the amazing weather we’ve been having all week! I know it’s been insanely hot back east, but the weather here has been absolutely perfect.

A low of the week was Norah’s sunglasses going missing. She was wearing them yesterday morning while we walked Isla to school, and I don’t know if she tossed them out of the strolled on our way there or if someone swiped them while we were going inside the school, but they’re gone :( We even re-traced our steps and walked the same way home, but I didn’t see them anywhere. Oh well, they lasted a surprisingly long time, so I guess it’s okay.

An internet find I loved was the latest edition of Jimmy Kimmel’s Mean Tweets. The last one? DYING!

The best money I spent was on the fresh mozzarella I picked up to make homemade chicken parmesan. The fresh stuff is SOOOOO much better than that plasticky garbage that comes pre-shredded in the bags.

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was getting Norah on the potty training train. I don’t know if it’s my absolute favourite moment of the week, but it’s been one of those milestones that I’ve been putting on the back burner for far too long now. We’re a few days in and things are going fairly well. *knocks on wood*

A song that has been stuck in my head is “What About Us” by Pink.

My meals of the week were meatballs, barbecued pork chops, baked chicken parmesan, carne asadas. Tonight’s meal is a mystery for now.

My plans for the weekend are playing in the final slo-pitch tournament of the year. Wish us luck! (We’re going to need it!)

How’s the weather where you are? Sun? Snow? Rain? Wind?

TGIF v.46

A high of the week was having the sun come out and being able to see blue skies! I know that the forest fires are still running rampant throughout the Interior, but having a break from the smoke has been amazing. We’ve been able to enjoy the yard and walks once again, and I’m so grateful!

We/Kyle has also started doing some demolition work on our back deck; we’ve decided to expand it by a couple of feet to make it more “entertaining friendly.” The stairs needed to be replaced anyway, so we figured we may as well replace the whole thing. It probably won’t be done until mid-September, but hopefully we get some bonus sunny days come the fall so we can enjoy it a little.

A low of the week was having to make some tough decisions in regards to Daphne’s health. In a nutshell, she’s old. (She’ll be 13 at the end of October.) We’ve put her on anti-inflammatories to try and help her aches and pains, but it’s only buying me time to come to terms with some tough decisions more than anything.

An internet find I loved was the Carpool Karaoke series on Apple Music. So far I’ve only been able to watch snippets here and there because I’m not a subscriber, but my mom is, so she may very well find me camped out on her couch one day binge-watching all the episodes!

The best money I spent was no money – my mom graciously gave us two zucchinis, green beans and cucumbers out of her garden, plus our grape tomato plants are out of control and providing us with tons of fruit! I love being able to eat vegetables (and fruit, I guess) right from our own gardens!

My favourite Isla and/or Norah moment was being able to take them outside. Nothing drives a woman more crazy than children who are also going crazy!

A song that has been stuck in my head is allllllll the kids’ songs. Specifically anything from Moana, Sing, and Trolls. Someone hold me.

My meals of the week were barbequed chicken & corn on the cob, heart attack mac & cheese, carne asadas, leftover spaghetti casserole. Nothing fancy!

My plans for the weekend are birthday parties!

I cannot believe how fast summer is going by – How was your week?
