30 Weeks and Some Whining

I’m at 30 weeks already. How the hell is that even possible? Oh right – time – it moves along whether you like it or not.

Pregnancy seems to have brought out the worst in me when it comes to whining. Kyle can probably agree to that. But you know what? I don’t care, because I’m growing a human. Ha!

So, what are my gripes thus far?

  • I can’t put shoes on that don’t just slip onto my feet. Laces? Nope. Boots? Forget it. Hell, even socks are a challenge. Thank goodness it’s starting to get nicer out, because my flats are my best friend and as soon as I get a pedicure, you better believe I’ve busting out the flip-flops.
  • Speaking of pedicure – I can’t paint my toes. Like, I can’t reach them. So, I also hate that it’s getting nice out because my toes are ugly. Kyle offered to paint my toenails for me, but I’m pretty sure he’d just get it all over. He’s a champ for asking though, I’ll give him that! ;)
  • I can no longer see my va-jay-jay. I’m assuming it’s still there. That is all.
  • I would like people to stop asking if I’m all “ready” for the baby to come (i.e. – have done all the necessary shopping). No, no I’m not. I have a stroller and car seat. That’s it. I’m just banking on Baby not arriving early. I’m a procrastinator by nature so I’ll get it done eventually.
  • The heartburn. OH THE HEARTBURN! Lately I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night with some serious burnage, which is ridiculous since I take a dose of Gaviscon right before bed. Baby better have lots of hair!
  • People talking to me on Facebook who I normally don’t converse with, only to ask about my pregnancy. It’s rather annoying and only makes me want to delete them.
  • Waddling. I swore to myself that I’d try not to be a waddle-walker when pregnant, but with this ridiculous hip pain I’ve been experiencing, it’s hard not too. And then when I really have to pee, it’s worse.
  • Baby kicking me in the ribs/kidney. Okay, not a legitimate gripe, because I love feeling her move around, but when I’m at work and trying to be all serious with someone, it’s hard when I’m being pulverized on the inside!
That’s all I can think of for now, but of course, I’m sure there’s plenty more where those came from!
Now, to your regular programming:

How far along? 30 Weeks

How big is baby? She’s about 15.7″ long, according to BabyCentre.ca. (How she fits inside me is beyond me!

Total weight gain/loss: At my doctor’s appointment last Tuesday I had gained 2lbs since my last check up, so I’ll say I’m gaining about a pound a week. Not too bad I suppose!

Maternity Clothes? Nothing new, but I’m definitely happy that it’s warm enough to wear flats/slip-ons and flip flops! Lace up shoes and the like were just getting to be too much of a challenge to put on.

Stretch marks? None!

Sleep: It’s tough getting comfortable at night because she likes to move around as soon as I lay down. She eventually stops, but when I’m exhausted, it’s annoying!

Movement: She’s a little wiggle monster!!

Food cravings: I’ve really been wanting a burrito lately. Weird, I know.

What I miss: Not waking up in the middle of the night sweating to death. It’s gross.

What I am looking forward to: The baby’s room should be done by this evening!!

Milestones: Getting the baby’s room finished, for sure.

29 Weeks

How far along? 29 Weeks!

How big is baby? She’s about 15″ long from head to toe and weighs approximately 2.5lbs, according to BabyCentre.ca.

Total weight gain/loss: I haven’t weighed myself since my last doctor’s appointment a couple weeks ago, but I’m pretty sure I’ve gained a couple pounds since then. I have my next appointment tomorrow, so we’ll see!

Maternity Clothes? My mom, aunt and I went to Kelowna on the weekend to do a little shopping, so I stopped in the maternity-wear store there to pick up some things. It’s ridiculous how much cheaper their stuff is compared to the stuff in Kamloops! Not fair :( Anyway, I got some khaki-coloured capris, a couple shirts, and a really cute dress for a wedding we’re going to next month.

Stretch marks? None that I can tell. It looks like I’m getting that weird vertical one that runs down from your belly button, but I’m not 100% sure. I think it’s just hair. (Pregnancy has made me hairy!

Sleep: I’ve been waking up recently in the middle of the night with HORRIBLE heartburn. It’s awful, so I’ve been drinking liquid Gaviscon like it’s water. Ugh.

Movement: More and more every day it seems, and that’s probably because Baby is running out of room. She’s found my kidneys I think, which isn’t particularly comfortable. Usually if I just rub where she is she’ll move.

Food cravings: I’ve really been wanting a paralyzer (which is an alcoholic beverage), so I obviously can’t cave to that craving. The closest thing I’ve had to that is a root beer float. OMG SO GOOD!

What I miss: Now that the weather is starting to get nicer, I miss sipping boozy drinks on the patio. *sigh* Oh well …

What I am looking forward to: Crib shopping! I swear it’s going to happen in the next couple weeks. We should be done painting within the next week. Maybe.

Milestones: Not that I can think of … last week was a boring week!

28 Weeks and Finally Painting

After two months of having Baby’s room all primed and ready for paint, we finally got started on actually painting her room!

On Sunday my grandpa came over to help me paint the baby’s room. Originally, my mom was going to help me do it, but when that we were going to paint to my grandpa, he mentioned that he LOVED painting and so my mom suggested that maybe I’d like his help. Of course I would! He’s got a lot going on right now, so it was a way for him to get a little break, even if it was only for a few hours.

We only got one coat done of the main colour done, which is a really pretty creamy yellow colour. We’ll do the final coat soon, and then we’ll just have to paint the accent colour (a light lavender) and we’ll be done! My goal is to have everything done by the end of this month – We need to start buying furniture!

You can read about/see what the room in my post here, but here’s what the progress looks like so far:

The photos definitely don’t do the colour ANY justice whatsoever, so I’m hoping once the second coat of paint goes on, along with the purple, it will pop a lot more!

Now, onto your regular programming!

How far along? 28 Weeks!

How big is baby? She’s about 14.8″ long from head to toe and weighs approximately 2.2lbs, according to BabyCentre.ca.

Total weight gain/loss: At my doctor’s appointment last Thursday, I came in just under 135lbs, so in total, including the 4lbs I lost during my first trimester, I’ve gained about 20lbs. My “normal” weight floats between 115-120lbs, so I’m okay with that!

Maternity Clothes? Kyle took me shopping Friday night and I picked up some more shirts – Yay! Now I can stop rotating the same five shirts during the week for work, lol. I plan on buying spring/summer clothes in a couple weeks.

Stretch marks? None!

Sleep: I’ve been sleeping a lot better lately even since I starting using a 2nd pillow for under my belly/between my legs. I can’t be bothered to buy a body pillow, so I just spoon with a regular one and it seems to help support my belly and help with my hip pain.

Movement: Still lots! Baby likes to press “out” near my belly button and it gets pretty uncomfortable, but if I lean over or just rub where she is, she usually moves along. It’s a fun little game we play, lol

Food cravings: Nothing in particular lately, actually.

What I miss: Being active. Slo-pitch starts in a couple weeks and I’m bummed that I won’t be able to play for most of the season, if at all. I have the agility of a brick now. I will, however, make the world’s greatest scorekeeper!

What I am looking forward to: Finishing the baby’s room!

Milestones: My gestation diabetes test and blood work came back all clear, so I’m good to eat donuts and ice cream still! I also signed Kyle and I up for prenatal classes in May.
