31 Weeks and the Painting is Done

After being primed for two months, the baby’s room is FINALLY done being painted!!

In case you missed the post a few weeks ago, my Grandpa came over to help Kyle and I paint the baby’s room. My mom and I had originally started the room back in February when we primed the walls for real paint. As a refresher of what it looked like before, here’s a photo:

That there is some scary shiz.

So, after three months, two coats of primer, and two coats of paint later, the baby’s room is finally done being painted!

(Pardon the painting supplies I’ve yet to clear out of the room)

I am SOOOO happy with the way it turned out! There’s a couple of spots that need to be touched up, but other than that, I am in love with my baby’s future room :)

I seriously can’t thank my Grandpa enough for helping Kyle and I paint the room. It seriously means the world to me that he wanted to help, because I know my Grandma would be so excited to see it all done. He was there the day before she passed away, the day after, and the day after her Celebration of Life to get the painting done. He is a dedicated man in every way, shape, and form. Seriously, my hero.

And now that the painting is all done, I finally feel a little better about the baby coming in just 9 weeks! (If she’s actually on time) I can’t wait to get the baby furniture in the room when it arrives in about a month. It’s finally starting to feel real.

So, now to the questions of the week:

How far along? 31 Weeks

How big is baby? She’s about 3.3lbs and approximately 16″ long, according to BabyCentre.ca.

Total weight gain/loss: I’m about 140lbs, so I’ve gained about 20/25lbs depending on the way you look at it. (I lost 5lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight during the first trimester)

Maternity Clothes? The weather is starting to warm up quite a bit so some “spring/summer” shopping is going to be needed soon. Pants are getting to be a little bit too warm. You’d think I’d be excited to shop, but I freakin’ HATE how much maternity clothing is.

Stretch marks? No actual stretch marks, although Kyle SWEARS he seen one the other day, but it’s gone now. I’m pretty sure it was a weird pant line or something. Sucker! I do, however, have a little bit of a vertical stretch mark from my belly button to my pelvis. (There’s a name for it, I just can’t remember what it’s called.) That one doesn’t bother me as much as actual stretch marks would.

Sleep: I wake up a lot in the middle of the night just sweating to death, it’s awful. I’m so glad I’m not going to be pregnant in the middle of the summer heat!

Movement: She’s been moving A LOT lately, and it seems to go on for quite a while. She really likes to move around when I’m driving (maybe it’s the music in my car?) and when I’m watching TV (especially if the show has gun fire or violence, lol).

Food cravings: Saturday night I went to the pub to watch the UFC event and normally I order nachos about 1/2 way through the night. I opted not to this time around and the table behind me ordered some … OMG THE SMELL! I’m totally kicking myself for not ordering any now. Who wants to bring me a plate of nachos?

What I miss: Being comfortable. It’s getting harder and harder to be in a comfortable position, be it while standing, sitting or whatever. And now I’ve started the “waddle” when I walk, mostly because my hips hurt so damn much some days. Oh well – only 9 weeks to go, and I’ll have a whole new can of things to miss!

What I am looking forward to: Baby’s furniture arriving, as well as the glider Kyle ordered for me. I’m also getting really antsy to shop for baby clothing. I’ve starting browsing stores online and using all my willpower to Pin my finds instead of buying them! You can check out all the cuteness on my Pinterest board here.

Milestones: Finishing the paint in the baby’s room, waiting on the baby furniture to arrive. Soon we will be trying to install the car seat base into my car! (This may or may not be a challenge!)

30 Weeks and Some Whining

I’m at 30 weeks already. How the hell is that even possible? Oh right – time – it moves along whether you like it or not.

Pregnancy seems to have brought out the worst in me when it comes to whining. Kyle can probably agree to that. But you know what? I don’t care, because I’m growing a human. Ha!

So, what are my gripes thus far?

  • I can’t put shoes on that don’t just slip onto my feet. Laces? Nope. Boots? Forget it. Hell, even socks are a challenge. Thank goodness it’s starting to get nicer out, because my flats are my best friend and as soon as I get a pedicure, you better believe I’ve busting out the flip-flops.
  • Speaking of pedicure – I can’t paint my toes. Like, I can’t reach them. So, I also hate that it’s getting nice out because my toes are ugly. Kyle offered to paint my toenails for me, but I’m pretty sure he’d just get it all over. He’s a champ for asking though, I’ll give him that! ;)
  • I can no longer see my va-jay-jay. I’m assuming it’s still there. That is all.
  • I would like people to stop asking if I’m all “ready” for the baby to come (i.e. – have done all the necessary shopping). No, no I’m not. I have a stroller and car seat. That’s it. I’m just banking on Baby not arriving early. I’m a procrastinator by nature so I’ll get it done eventually.
  • The heartburn. OH THE HEARTBURN! Lately I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night with some serious burnage, which is ridiculous since I take a dose of Gaviscon right before bed. Baby better have lots of hair!
  • People talking to me on Facebook who I normally don’t converse with, only to ask about my pregnancy. It’s rather annoying and only makes me want to delete them.
  • Waddling. I swore to myself that I’d try not to be a waddle-walker when pregnant, but with this ridiculous hip pain I’ve been experiencing, it’s hard not too. And then when I really have to pee, it’s worse.
  • Baby kicking me in the ribs/kidney. Okay, not a legitimate gripe, because I love feeling her move around, but when I’m at work and trying to be all serious with someone, it’s hard when I’m being pulverized on the inside!
That’s all I can think of for now, but of course, I’m sure there’s plenty more where those came from!
Now, to your regular programming:

How far along? 30 Weeks

How big is baby? She’s about 15.7″ long, according to BabyCentre.ca. (How she fits inside me is beyond me!

Total weight gain/loss: At my doctor’s appointment last Tuesday I had gained 2lbs since my last check up, so I’ll say I’m gaining about a pound a week. Not too bad I suppose!

Maternity Clothes? Nothing new, but I’m definitely happy that it’s warm enough to wear flats/slip-ons and flip flops! Lace up shoes and the like were just getting to be too much of a challenge to put on.

Stretch marks? None!

Sleep: It’s tough getting comfortable at night because she likes to move around as soon as I lay down. She eventually stops, but when I’m exhausted, it’s annoying!

Movement: She’s a little wiggle monster!!

Food cravings: I’ve really been wanting a burrito lately. Weird, I know.

What I miss: Not waking up in the middle of the night sweating to death. It’s gross.

What I am looking forward to: The baby’s room should be done by this evening!!

Milestones: Getting the baby’s room finished, for sure.

29 Weeks

How far along? 29 Weeks!

How big is baby? She’s about 15″ long from head to toe and weighs approximately 2.5lbs, according to BabyCentre.ca.

Total weight gain/loss: I haven’t weighed myself since my last doctor’s appointment a couple weeks ago, but I’m pretty sure I’ve gained a couple pounds since then. I have my next appointment tomorrow, so we’ll see!

Maternity Clothes? My mom, aunt and I went to Kelowna on the weekend to do a little shopping, so I stopped in the maternity-wear store there to pick up some things. It’s ridiculous how much cheaper their stuff is compared to the stuff in Kamloops! Not fair :( Anyway, I got some khaki-coloured capris, a couple shirts, and a really cute dress for a wedding we’re going to next month.

Stretch marks? None that I can tell. It looks like I’m getting that weird vertical one that runs down from your belly button, but I’m not 100% sure. I think it’s just hair. (Pregnancy has made me hairy!

Sleep: I’ve been waking up recently in the middle of the night with HORRIBLE heartburn. It’s awful, so I’ve been drinking liquid Gaviscon like it’s water. Ugh.

Movement: More and more every day it seems, and that’s probably because Baby is running out of room. She’s found my kidneys I think, which isn’t particularly comfortable. Usually if I just rub where she is she’ll move.

Food cravings: I’ve really been wanting a paralyzer (which is an alcoholic beverage), so I obviously can’t cave to that craving. The closest thing I’ve had to that is a root beer float. OMG SO GOOD!

What I miss: Now that the weather is starting to get nicer, I miss sipping boozy drinks on the patio. *sigh* Oh well …

What I am looking forward to: Crib shopping! I swear it’s going to happen in the next couple weeks. We should be done painting within the next week. Maybe.

Milestones: Not that I can think of … last week was a boring week!
