Listy Friday

– I still can’t believe it’s 2013 already. Last year seemed to blow by so quickly with everything that happened, and now that we have Isla in our lives, time is flying by even quicker!! I hate making New Year’s Resolutions, but I really want 2013 to be the best year that it can be. I have a feeling it’s going to be GRAND :)

– Isla was born with a lot of hair. Some of her hair fell out in the places where her head rested while she slept. The hair that didn’t fall out kept on growing. Now she has a little “mullet” in the back of her head and it’s HILARIOUS. I can’t bring myself to trim it though. It’s too funny to cut, but one day I’ll get it done. For now, see what I’m talking about:

– I’m afraid that Daphne’s is getting crankier in her old age. She’s becoming more testy towards everything and it worries me that she’s going to hurt someone. She’s already told Campbell where to do and how to get there several times … And I hope it doesn’t escalate to something more one day.

– Isla is trying to crawl and it’s hilarious to watch! Because we have laminate flooring she can’t get her hands and knees going at the same time, so she just pushes herself backwards everywhere. If it wasn’t all wintery and cold she’d have no pants on so she’d have more grip, but the floors are too cold. Boo. We’ll get there.

– The weather is starting to get cooler these days. We were blessed with a abnormally warm November and December and now when it dips to -10°C/14°F I’m shivering like crazy and cranking up the heat. I have a feeling once we get our “regular” cold blast of -20 + Wind chill weather next month I’ll be even more whiny. I hate the wind. HATE.

– I still can’t believe that Isla is 6 months old. Where does the time go, really? I’ll be back to work before I know it, and I’m sure I’ll be full of anxiety for leaving my little Lovey at daycare for a whole 5 hours. Ugh. I’m not looking forward to it, but I am, if you understand what I’m saying. I don’t want to leave her, but I’m looking forward to going back to work. Maybe work will create an employee daycare centre. There’s enough kiddos being produced by staff to warrant one, I’m sure ;) (I’m not even kidding, actually. There are at least 5 employees that I know of who have children under the age of 3.)

– Umm … that’s all. I’m boring.

Listy Friday

– We’re going to the Wild Lights tonight at the BC Wildlife park! I’ve been before, and Isla is too young to realize what the heck is going on, but my mom wants to go because she hasn’t seen them yet. I’m pretty excited for it, actually! (And for those who have no idea what the Wild Lights are – It’s an outdoor Christmas light display at the wildlife park.)

– I have been fighting with Isla when it comes time to nurse lately. She’ll eat just fine right before bed or in the middle of the night, but during the day? She’ll eat for maybe 15 minutes every 4 hours or so and be done with it. It’s frustrating, but I guess if she’s not eating, she’s not hungry.

– Confession: I get overly excited for Christmas stockings! Kyle and I are horrible at keeping our Christmas presents for one another a surprise, so our stockings is how we keep the fun and excitement in gift giving. I can’t wait for Kyle to open his Christmas morning – It has some pretty awesome stuff in it!

– Isla had her 6-month immunization booster on Tuesday and she did amazing – Not a single tear! I had completely prepped myself for screamo baby, but she was so stoked to be at the health unit and to hang out with the nurse, she didn’t fuss at all. When the nurse poked her she stopped and looked a little puzzled, but no crying whatsoever. Now we’re good until she’s a year old!

– My brother is coming home for Christmas! He didn’t find out until last weekend that he got the time off of work, so he’s coming home on Sunday and staying for four days. I’m looking forward to seeing my little brother!

– After writing my address in the “return section” on my Christmas card envelopes, I really want to get mailing labels. I haaaaate writing my address 100 million times! Really, I’d like to get a really fun stamp like this one, but since Kyle and I have a habit of buying houses and moving a lot, I’ll wait on that one. I remember my family had one when I was growing up, but we had a PO box so it didn’t matter if we moved across town.

– I guess if you read this, you’ve survived the end of the world. Please don’t tell me you were one of those people! ;)

Listy Friday

– On Tuesday I signed Isla up for swimming lessons in January! I’m hoping she’ll love the water and consider it 100x more awesome than her baths. Now the only thing that has to happen is for me to get over my enormous distaste for public pools.

– As a result of me signing Isla up for lessons, I had to buy a new bathing suit because my boobs got huge due to breastfeeding. After hating everything in the swim wear store here, I ended up ordered off of Victoria’s Secret’s website. I’m really hoping it fits; I very rarely order clothes off the interwebs, especially swim wear or anything like that. Fingers crossed!

– Campbell has been eating the dead pine needles off of the floor from the Christmas tree, which has resulted in him having EXTREMELY smelly farts. It’s gross and nasty and he acts like it’s no big deal.

– Isla is slowly getting her balance figured out and as a result, she’s starting to sit up on her own a bit better. I sat her in front of her little play piano the other day and she really liked banging away at the “keys.” See for yourself:

– Kyle and I have already been discussing how many more children we’d like to have. Ideally, I think I want a boy and a girl, but part of me would like three kids.Right now I think the “plan” is to have a second kid and if it’s a boy, that’s it. If it’s another girl, we’ll try one more time for a boy. If it’s a girl – too bad, we’re done. Who knows. You all probably think I’m crazy for already talking about more kids since Isla is only 5 months old.

– I can’t believe Christmas is less than two weeks away! We’re having all of our family (well, the majority of our family) over for dinner, so there will be 12 people + Isla crammed into our living room for Christmas dinner on the 29th. Why the 29th instead of Christmas Day? Well, the menfolk in the family all work at the same location and on three different shifts. So, the 29th is the only day when we can all get together so Kyle and I can avoid having 4 different Christmas dinners. And while we’re not running around town having 4 Christmas dinners, I’m sure the one at our house will be just as chaotic!

– My mom and step-dad put an offer on a house in Kamloops and it was accepted – pending sale of their own if it happens within 2 months. I’m a little sad that my mom may be moving “down the hill” and a good 10-15 minute drive away from me. Right now she’s a 5 minute walk away, and it’s been really convenient having her so close. Part of the reason why Kyle and I bought the house we’re in is because my mom was so close – not that we’re going to throw ours on the market and follow them down to Kamloops’ “banana belt.” But – it is a nice house. Still – I’m not-so-secretly hoping that their place doesn’t sell.
