Day 6

A picture of something that makes you happy

A lot of things make me happy in general: pay day, food, shopping sales, unicorns, watching a spider die … But really, there’s only two things that make me the most happy:

They’re both there when I need a good hug, love me no matter what, make me constantly smile, and are both great listeners. (Kyle usually gives me more constructive feedback though, lol!)

I don’t know what I’d do without either of them! They just make my world go ’round :)

Day 5

My Siblings

I am lucky to have one awesome brother. He’s three years younger than I am, so we’re not super close, but close enough where he can call me when he needs help with something and vice-versa.

Aren’t we adorable? I love my too-long shirt and weird headband.

When we were little I was always stealing his Lego and he would steal mine. We’d also get into fights over video games and anything we felt like fighting over.

It’s weird being the older sister and watching him grow up. Really, it just makes me feel old. He’s still trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life, but I’m always there when he needs help with registering for university, buying books, or something else.

My brother is pretty awesome, and I’m glad he’s mine.

Day 4

My Parents

I don’t know how to describe my parents. For one, they’re divorced. I guess I should get that one out of the way right off the bat. I was in Grade 5 when it happened. I could go into detail on why, but I’m not going to. Why? Because I don’t particularly like to talk about it.

Anyway, my parents are great, really, despite them being split up. They always tried to get along for the benefit of my brother and I. When I think about it, they get along a LOT better than a lot of other divorced parents I know.

My dad is something special. He’s where I get my Chinese heritage, but he’s not your typical off-the-boat Asian. He tries really hard to keep our Chinese culture alive, even though he doesn’t speak any Chinese, and I really appreciate everything he does. He’ll make me dim sum and buy me weird foods from Chinatown when he goes to Vancouver. He’ll change the oil in my car and swap my summer tires out for my winter tires. But – he’ll also drive me up the wall with random phone calls (which don’t occur as frequently since I moved out a couple years ago). My dad is pretty awesome.

My mom is always there for me when I need to vent about anything. I was a little bit of a problem child growing up, but I’ve learned to appreciate everything she’s ever tried to teach me. My mom frequently laid down the law but in the end, it was for my own good. My mom and I are a lot a like in many ways. Kyle says we sound the same when we whine, which is kind of true. She’s also my go-to person when I go shopping. I don’t know why, but I like shopping for clothes with my mom more than my friends. She just knows what works for me. (A mother’s instinct maybe?)

My parents may not be perfect, but they’re mine, and they’re awesome in my eyes.
