Ten on Tuesday

1. Pretend it’s Monday morning–take us through a day in the life of you.

I wake up, put Daphne’s collar on then go pee. Then I head downstairs, get my newspaper out of the mailbox and let Daphne out to pee. I’ll get myself breakfast (cereal or a bagel) and read the paper while I eat. Then it’s time for blog reading and freelance work, mixed in with TV watching. I’ll eventually shower, get dressed and ready for Job #1. Then I’ll leave for work at 12:30 p.m. for my 1 p.m. start. I’ll work until 5 p.m. and come home. If I don’t have to work at Job #2, I’ll eat dinner with Kyle and just relax for the evening. If I do have to work, I’ll eat, get changed into my work uniform, and head out the door around 6 p.m. I’ll work until just after 10:15 p.m., then I’ll come home, check my email/Facebook/Twitter one last time and then hop into bed with Kyle.

2. What’s your favourite reality tv show?

Probably Survivor.

3. What motto do you live by?

“Treat others the way you want to be treated.” I think I’ve been told that since I was old enough to understand what it means.

4. If you knew could you try anything and not fail, what dream would you attempt?

I’d be a doctor and save lives.

5. What was your first job?

I had TWO first jobs! One was at a little touristy gift shop that sold semi-precious stone carvings and other things tourists loved. (They were Canadian themed – How could they not love them?) The other was at a Chinese restaurant where I bussed tables. Out of the two, I think I liked the bussing job better, even though my feet ached by the end of the night. My co-workers were more fun to talk to.

6. What is your current job?

Funny, I currently have two jobs as well. Or three. Job #1 is at a newspaper and Job #2 is at a grocery store. I guess Job #3 is my freelancing work.

7. What would you call yourself if you could choose your own name (and you cannot pick the one you already have)?

Gertrude, because I’m a cranky old woman on the inside.

8. What musical instruments can you play?

The piano. That’s it. Although we were taught you to play the recorder (SO annoying!) and the ukulele in elementary school. (Did anyone else??)

9. Is it easier to forgive or forget?

Forgive. Somethings are just too big to forget.

10. What is one food you’d never want to taste again?

Liver. I kid you not. When I was in Grade 8  or 9 my brother and I were forced to eat it. We weren’t allowed to leave the dinner table until it was all gone. My mom felt so bad for me and my brother. Worst dinner of my life.

Ten on Tuesday

This week’s Ten on Tuesday was fun, and I almost didn’t participate because I didn’t think I’d have time to, but I did! They’re all photo-based. Enjoy!

1. Your house.

I'm moving, soon, so you get a artist's rendition of my (current) house!

2. Your shower.

It's cleaner than usual in this photo!

3. The inside of your refrigerator.

Always well stocked!

4. Your pet.

Miss Daphne is my hero.

5. Your favourite pair of shoes.

If I could wear flip flops all the time, I'd be in heaven!

6. The most comfortable seat in your house.

My ugly, yet comfy, chair. I do all my blogging, freelancing and TV watching from this bad boy!

7. Your favourite cup or coffee mug.

All my real coffee mugs are packed up, so I just have my travel mug left! It does the job quite well.

8. Your laundry room.

It's not fancy, but it does the job. The dryer is actually dying a slow and painful death.

9. The view from your office chair.

Working on freelance from home = An office with a view that I want!

10. Your spouse/significant other/roommate.

He hates his photo being taken, and this is one of his favourites, so I figure he'd be okay with me posting this photo of him!

And Happy Birthday to my Dad today too! :)

Ten on Tuesday

1. Where did you go to college?

I went to Thompson Rivers University here in Kamloops.

2. What did you study?

Originally, I had started out in the Business degree program, but I sucked at all thing that involved numbers, so I switched to the Journalism program half-way through first year. Now I have a shiny Journalism degree!

3. Was college really all that it was cracked up to be?

I wasn’t really sure what to expect. It’s definitely all Frat-houses and Sororities like it is in the States (or at least in the movies). It was … okay?

4. How far were you from home?

I was only an hour away from my hometown, but since my dad moved to Kamloops around the same time I started school, I just moved in with him. Win!

5. Did you have the same roommate all four years?

Haha, if my Dad and brother count, then yes!

6. Where did you order food from at 2am?

No where, because are no 24hr food places here, other than McDonald’s drive-thru.

7. Did you date in college or were you tied down?

I did, but Kyle and I were dating before I started school.

8. Funniest drunk college moment?

Ripping the pants off of a guy. It was at a house party full of welders and one guy was wearing fashionable pre-ripped jeans and it just wasn’t acceptable. The funny thing? The instructor started it all. I feel a little bad, but not really.

9. Did you make it to class on time?

Almost always. There was one semester when I had two classes back-to-back and they were at opposite ends of campus. And the instructor in the first class liked to talk – a lot. Now picture me frantically running across campus to make it in time for my next class. Ugh.

10. What was your favourite class in college?

It was a black & white photography class that I took as an elective. You had to use a REAL camera and develop your own film and everything. The dark room was an amazing place to work, so peaceful! I would just turn on my iPod and work.

I also really like my Visual Culture course (also an elective!)

Happy Tuesday!
