ABC’s of MEE

Man, I do love a good meme, especially when I have nothing exciting to blog about. I present to you the ABC’s of Me, where I got from Nicole at Busy Girl.

A. Area Code: 250 – Huzzah!

B. Bed Size: Queen, although I really, REALLY would like a king!

C. Chore you hate: Vacuuming. My vacuum is about 20 years old, I shit you not. It’s held together with electrical tape.

D. Dog’s Name: Daphne, a.k.a. Dapher-Dan, a.k.a., Daphetron, a.k.a. Princess Poopy-Pants, a.k.a. Fuzzy Britches

E. Essential “start of the day” Item: Breakfast. I can live without coffee if I must, but if I don’t have breakfast I’m a cranky, wretched person.

F. Favorite Colour: Yellow is my “always” favourite, but right now I love the colour purple.

G. Gold or Silver: Gold, as long as it’s white gold. Yellow gold is nasty :P

H. Height: 5’4”

I. Instruments you play: I took piano lessons for about 6 or 7 years when I was young. I can still read music, but I hardly ever play.

J. Job: Journalist to infinity and beyond! And cashier at a grocery store. Wee!

K. Kids: None for now. Ask me again in 2 or 3 years.

L. Living Arrangements: Renting a house with boyfriend and roommate + two doggies.

M. Mom’s name: Lori.

N. Nickname: Kara-Lee is what I’m usually called by my roommate. My grandparents call me Kara-Kazoo. Don’t call me that though, it’s reserved just for them!

O. Overnight Hospital Stay: None thus far, but I’ve been there for at least 4 hours.  No fun.

P. Pet Peeve: Repetitive noises and the word “moist” or “secrete.”

Q. Quote from Movie: “That’ll be the day.” – John Wayne, The Cowboys

R. Righty or Lefty: Righty

S. Siblings: A younger brother!

T. Time-you wake up: 7am on work days, 9am-ish on weekends.

U. Underwear: Whatever’s clean! ;)

V. Veggie’s you dislike: Asparagus tops. Sickening! I like the rest of them though.

W. Ways/reasons you are late: Horrible traffic or appointments that run late. Otherwise, I’m always on time, and usually early.

X. Xrays you’ve had: Just my shoulder, since it’s dislocated a zillion times. No fun!

Y.Yummy food you make: Homemade Mac n’ Cheese or Lasagna are Kyle’s favourites, so I’d say those!

Z. Zoo animals you like: Penguins or hippos! They’re awesome!

Okay, that’s it! I promise I’ll have an exciting post tomorrow! (As in, I have some exciting news to share!)

Happy Hump Day!

Ten on Tuesday

Here’s another edition of Ten on Tuesday, brought to you by Chelsea at Roots and Rings! These questions are extra special, as they were written up by yours truly! :D

1. Think back a decade, do you remember what your first cellphone was? Was it as cool as Zack Morris’s phone?

Not even close! Compared to phones today, my cell was an embarrassment:

I got it for Christmas in Grade 12 and used it until my first month of university. Then I started on a Family Plan with my dad and brother, so I got a “fancy” flip-phone. The great thing? My grandma has this exact same phone and it still works!

2. What is the first children’s book you remember being read to you?

My mom read to me all the time, but the books that stand out are the ones by Robert Munsch, Dr. Suess and the Berenstain Bears.

3. What was your first car? Did you love it or hate it?
It was a 1996 2-door Pontiac Sunfire. Colour? Beige! For the most part, I loved that car. For whatever reason I had always wanted a Sunfire and I was so happy that it was my first car. I only hated the fact that it didn’t have air conditioning. You kinda can’t live without that when you live in a desert!

4. Who was your hero growing up?

I really didn’t have one, but as I got older I realized that I really admire my grandparents. They’re both so amazing in so many ways. My grandma lives for her kids and grandkids and my grandpa is just an amazing man. He’s 72 and he still goes out and hunts every fall and is constantly working – be it in the yard or filling in at his old job.

5. Think back to your first kiss. Was it everything you dreamed of?

No. It was horrible! I think it was when I was in Grade 7, during some sort of school dance. Basically, it was forced upon me since all the other kids were kissing. It was awkward and everyone knew about it. FML.

6. What was your first BAD hairstyle choice? (Extra points for embarrassing photos)

When I was in Grade 9 I decided that I wanted super short hair. (My hair before the cut was below my shoulders) I decided that it would look the coolest if I used super strong gel and spike it. Yeah … bad decision! I was called a lesbian and had a sandwich thrown at me. :( I think I kept it for just under a year and got it fixed during Spring Break when I went to Palm Springs. Never again!

This is the best I could do for a photo; I guess I was in that “I’m a teenager, don’t take my picture!” phase.  I was feeling too lazy to scan. Ignore the devil horns, it was Halloween and I was answering the door for my Grandma.

7. What was your first realistic dream? (One where you had to think “Oh dang, was that a dream?”)

I was really little (Maybe 3 or 4?) and I was terribly ill with the flu. I had a nightmare where monsters opened a portal in my wall and tried to convince me to come with them. I had never been so terrified in my life!

8. What was the first phobia you remember developing?

It was probably spiders. We get huge, ugly puff spiders and disgusting, fast wolf-ish spiders a lot. My dad used to let me kill them with a blow-torch. Ha!

9. Which character on Sesame Street do you most identify with?

I’ve been called Snufflufagas before, probably because I mope the same way he does, lol. Or The Count. Because I love to count! AH AH AH! (Kidding)

10. What was the hardest goal you ever accomplished?

I’ve never really set a goal, such as “I will do ___ by ___.” I guess finishing my degree was a big goal, considering I was on academic probation after my first semester. It was tough!

Ten on Tuesday

Here’s another edition of Ten on Tuesday, brought to you by Chelsea at Roots and Rings!

1.  What two cities should be moved closer together?

It varies on different days, but right now I want Fort St. John to be closer to Kamloops so I can see my little niece. I don’t think I can wait until mid-May to see her! I’d also like Vancouver to be less than four hours away from Kamloops so I could visit there more often.

2. What was the first plane ride you took?

It was to Disneyland when I was in Grade 2! (Or at least I think I was in Grade 2) I don’t remember much of the flight, but my brother and I got to see the cockpit of the plane, so that was pretty awesome.

3. What continent would you most like to visit?

Asia, specifically China.

4. What’s your favorite place to window-shop?

Urban Barn. They have this AMAZING chair called “Nest” that I so desperately want! It’s big, round, soft and comfy!

5. What’s the least fun you’ve ever had at a place specifically tailored for fun?

A wedding last year. Kyle was a groomsmen, the bride was insane and I was miserable. Maybe it was part jealousy, but man, it’s a good thing I couldn’t drink since I had to drive Kyle home.

6.  You’re stuck on an island with plenty of food, a companion, and a relatively stress-free lifestyle. What do you say when the rescue ship comes?

“Could you bring me some more booze? Thanks!”

7. Which day of the week do you look forward to most?

Thursdays! It’s always been my favourite since Kyle and I started dating. It’s like our “date night” – We watch all our favourite TV shows and play couch potato!

8. What’s your favorite place to enjoy the great outdoors?

Anywhere were there’s beautiful green grass and my dog is invited! I love the way it feels on my bare feet!

9. What’s on your “to do” list this summer?

Camping, for sure, and a trip somewhere new. I haven’t been camping in AGES and I really want to go!

10. Which natural disaster freaks you out the most?

Either an earthquake, fire or tornado. Earthquake because shit just falls on top of you, fire because shit burns you and leaves you with nothing and tornado because I hate the wind that much.
