For Once

For once, I would like to have a weekend off without having to book the time off.

For once, I would like to work a regular 40-hour, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 work week.

For once, I would like to enjoy an evening at home and relax.

For once, I realized that sometimes, you have to make sacrifices to get what you really in life, even though it feels like it’s going to kill you at the time.

What have you realized, for once?

Exhausted

Today felt like the longest day in my life. I started work at 8:30 this morning and ended at 10:15 this evening. I just want to sleep. My brain hurts. I’m mentally exhausted.

Tomorrow is my birthday and I had plans to go out for dinner and then go dancing. Instead I’ve scrapped the dancing idea and plan on going to watch Iron Man 2 Saturday night.

Tomorrow I’m also debuting/beginning my 96 in 1096 list. It should be exciting and I can’t wait to start on it.

Now I’m going to find a snack and go to bed. One more day until the beautiful weekend.

The First Two Days

What a whirlwind the last couple days have been! I don’t think I’ve learned so much information in two days and have been to remember it all ever!

So far, I’m really catching onto the whole Classified Clerk position. Basically, I answer the phone, emails and tend to the counter and take people’s ads. Easy! The greatest part is I’ve yet to have the horrible nervous sweat that I usually get. I’m pretty glad for that, because that’s just awkward. Annnnnd I get my own freakin’ desk! Yeah, I had a desk at the other paper, but this one is filled with my stuff and no one goes through it. Huzzah! I feel like such a grown up.

The only weird thing is having an hour-long lunch break. I really had no idea what to do on Monday during my break other than eating lunch. I just sat there and read Facebook on my lame little LG Rumor. (Note to self: I really need a Blackberry when my contract is up) Yesterday I was smart and brought a book with me. This will only be for a week since I go part-time next week, but still … unreal!

Also, one of the photographers for the paper had to do a double-take when he saw me in the office yesterday. We always seemed to be in each other’s way (or maybe it was just me in his way) when I was at the other paper. It was slightly amusing.

So yes, that’s my first two days in a nutshell! It’s going really well and I’m so glad I made the decision to take the job offer.

Determination pays off :)
